Located on the foothills of India's Western Ghats our ancestral home is an ode to slow living, Keralan hospitality and the natural marvels of this tropical travel destination. You will have the entire villa to yourself (five bedrooms), 1.5 bathrooms, ...spacious kitchen, tree lined courtyard and garden area. We take just one booking at a time, in order to ensure guests, have our attention and care. Think of a working remotely from here as a visit to a friend's home in the Kerala countryside. With internet connection , an ergonomic chair and a work table with a lush green view looking into the verdant courtyard. This villa is perfect for digital nomads (especially those with families or pets). We respect our guests and trust them to look after the home during their short stay as they would theirs and also being mindful of the small village community that they are being welcomed into. Amenities in the villa 1) Washing Machine 2) Refrigerator 3) Back up power 4) Ergonomic Chair 5) Office Table 6) Wifi Internet NB: there is no hot water in Shower and toilet paper as it is very normal in India. Nearby, walkable distance there are grocery shops, restaurants. Health Care Centre, Veterinary Centres Child Day Care centres are also nearby. The homestay is provided to guests at a budget rate and the funds raised are used for the ongoing restoration of the house and to improve livelihoods within the village community Cheekonnumal. By staying and working from here, you are supporting the upkeeping of our heritage while empowering the community. The Western Ghats are a stunning mountain range located in western India, known for their breathtaking beauty and rich biodiversity. They are home to numerous species of plants and animals, many of which are endemic to the region. The Ghats are also a source of fresh water for the surrounding areas, with numerous rivers originating from them. The rolling hills and lush forests provide an ideal backdrop for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and wildlife spotting. They have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their unique ecosystem and exceptional natural beauty. Things to do nearby include hiking, swimming in fresh water rivers and waterfalls. There are beaches an hours drive away from our location. The Ayurvedic Spas Centre are located within a 20 minute drive. You can spend 4 weeks doing a detox or just have weekly massage. Cultural experiences such as Kalari and Theyyam can also be experienced. HOW TO GET THERE Closest airport is Kannur International Airport (52km - 1.5 hours drive). Taxis are available on arrival from the airport. We can also arrange for a taxi to come and pick you up (which maybe cheaper than the airport taxi's). We will arrange for pick up taxi on request after your booking is secured (from any of the airports/railway stations). Other nearby airports are Calicut International Airport (88 km - 3 hour drive) and Kochi International Airport (224 km 7 hour drive). You can also take the train from Kochi (station code: ERS/ERN) to Vadakara (station code: BDJ) there are trains that take 4.5 hours to reach Vadakara. From Vadakara - the house is a 45 minute to 1 hour drive. Other airports to land in that are further away but from where trains can be taken are: Bengaluru air.
